I spent a week escaping winter in New York by visiting my girlfriend who lives out in Las Vegas in January. The weather is high in the 60s, low in the 40s, which is my favorite kind of cosy sweater weather – not like the snow coat weather back home, blegh.
There is obviously so much to see and do in Las Vegas, but especially with having a friend who lives out there, I wanted to share a few of my favorites kitten-y things to do, from coffee shops to my favorite hotels to insider secrets. 🙂
One of my favorite spots on the Strip for a lovely cup is Samba Latte by the Monte Carlo Hotel. I love starting a day out with a nice almond milk latte, and this place does great coffee. You can grab a table outside to people watch all the tourists buzzing around. They also have a nutella latte, mmm.
Also, the Juice Standard is inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel. Incredible juice bar, alsooooo with fresh pressed cashew milk lattes. Um. Yes.
If you have an afternoon, indulge yourself! Of course all the hotels here have spas, but Bombshell Beauty Salon is next level. Take an Uber over and get pampered in this gorgeous, old school, all pink salon with all the beauty treatments you can think of. Plus – all their products are vegan. I got a spray tan (perfect) and a blowout, but they also do facials and nails. The owner is soooo sweet, and the whole ambiance of the place is just perfect. Great place to get beautified for your Vegas adventures.
We had margaritas and snacks at Javier’s, the Mexican restaurant in the Aria Hotel. Ohhhh my lord. First up, tequila is my drink of choice, because a good margarita is just irreplaceable. I actually used to bartend at a tequila bar years ago! Javier’s knows how to do margaritas right, with fresh, real ingredients. I got the guava marg (amaze) and my girlfriend asked for the pineapple with added jalapeno. For snacks we just had house salsa (so spicy, I love it) and fresh guac. And with the gorgeous atmosphere, really felt like I was back in Mexico, my favorite beachy destination.
It was the second time I went to dinner at Andreas. This is a gem. Stunning atmosphere – feels almost like a elegant 70s vibe. There are these sexy booths along one wall, like alcoves. The food is Pan-Asian cuisine, and they have a whole vegan menu which is so awesome. I LOVE their vegan sushi roll. Also, their oysters are the prettiest and best I’ve ever had with their lovely little toppings and side flowers. My girlfriend had Waygu steak to go with my vegan sushi, ha. This is probably my favorite restaurant in Vegas.
Another Aria Hotel restaurant I love is Lemongrass, a Thai place. My friend always gets chicken green curry and I always get veggie pad thai, every time we go for Thai, whether we’re in New York, Vegas or Copenhagen, haha. Lemongrass is led by a chef from Thailand and the food is wonderful.
My favorite hotels are Cosmopolitan for their gorgeous chandeliers, New York New York for, well, the fun feeling of home, Bellagio for their gorgeous flower displays, and the Wynn/Encore duo for being the most glam.
Places I haven’t gotten a chance to go to yet but am dying to next time – Rose Rabbit Lie, which is an old school supper club with amazing dining and a show to go along; The Venetian Hotel to ride around in a gondola and pretend like I’m actually in Venice; and the Criss Angel magic Cirque du Soleil show (lol) and of course I can’t wait to get on the crazy rides on Stratosphere. Whee!
Til next time, Sin City!
